Pastor Danny Langley, Transition Pastor

Pastor Danny teaches at Markey Church on the first, second, and fifth Sundays of each month.

Pastor Danny Langley is a retired American Baptist pastor who lives in Novi, MI. He has served churches in California, Kansas, and Michigan. He is married to Renee, and they have two sons, twelve biological and church grandchildren, a great grandchild, and a Labrador Retriever named Prince Alexander “Sasha” Danielovich Langley. Danny graduated from universities in California, Kansas, and Vermont. He received his Masters of Divinity from the American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, CA. Danny plays several string instruments, and loves studying history, archaeology, and foreign languages.

Pastor Matt Boyle, Teaching Pastor

Pastor Matt teaches at Markey Church, remotely via video, on the third and fourth Sundays of each month.

Matt Boyle has been in vocational ministry since 2005. He has served as a student pastor, teaching pastor, senior pastor, and hospice chaplain. Matt grew up in Chicago, IL, received his undergraduate degree from Hope College in Holland, MI, and received his Master of Divinity from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI. Matt met his wife Corrie, in Grand Rapids when Corrie was the student pastor of their church and interviewed Matt to be a volunteer. Matt passed the interview. They live in Fort Collins, Colorado, with their daughter, Nyleigha, and son, Parker.

Sara Humphreys, Connections Director + Office Manager

Sara has worked at Markey Church since 2017. Originally from Saginaw, Sara attended Alma College and graduated with a teaching degree in 2011. After teaching for five years, Sara transitioned into working at Markey Church in the fall of 2017.

Currently, Sara serves as the Office Manager and Connections Director here at Markey Church. She oversees things such as communication, building usage, the church office, and our volunteers. Sara also manages our Kids Ministry for children ages birth through fifth grade. When she’s not in the church office, Sara works Kirtland Community College Library. Sara loves to listen to podcasts, play board games, read non-fiction, and spend time with her family and friends.

OUR ELDERS

The Council of Elders is made up of individuals who are committed to the mission and vision of Markey Church. The COE work closely with church partners, staff, and ABC-MI leaders to guide Markey Church.

Bradley Ackels

Brad has a positive attitude and warm heart that make him a great asset to our church and Elder team. Brad is married to Sam, and they are parents to Lilly. They are an active family that stay busy with Lilly’s sports and activities, traveling, and spending time outdoors. Brad owns and operates his small business, Northern Hitch & Accessories, installing towing packages, tonneau covers, running boards, and other accessories.

Larry Cavanagh

Larry has been an active part of Markey Church and the Roscommon community for many years. Larry began his career as a member of the US Army Reserve, and then transitioned into work with the Michigan State Highway Division. Larry studied route surveying and engineering, working for a private surveying company before opening his own land surveying company in Roscommon.

A Christian since high school, Larry married Joanne in 1957, and together they have four children. Larry stays busy with golf, woodworking, and other projects.

Marci Galloway

Marci is an active part of our church and our community. Marci works for Roscommon Area Public Schools as a K-4 Math and Reading Interventionist and as a Preschool Director. Marci has been a part of Markey Church for 7 to 8 years, and has served in many volunteer roles in our church. Marci and her husband Tim live in Roscommon with their dog Polly, and they’re also the parents to four! She likes to read, camp, hang out and hang out at the beach. Marci also has a gift for music, and enjoys singing, dancing, and doing Zumba.

Barbara Toleno

Barbara moved to Prudenville in 2015 when she began working for Transnation Title Agency, and began attending Markey Church a year later. She lives with her two cats, Jinx and Evinrude, and her extended family lives in Michigan and the East Coast. Barbara recently retired, and keeps busy with cross country skiing, sewing, knitting, and other home projects. She also enjoys jigsaw puzzles, reading, and watching British mystery shows.
